The developers of the Microsoft PowerToys open source tool for Windows 10 are getting to release an update with new utilities and interface improvements. This update remains within the early stages of development, and Microsoft will likely release it later this year.
PowerToys for Windows 10 was first launched in 2019 and is predicated on an equivalent approach because the computer user tools that existed within the Windows 95 era. Continuing into 2020, Microsoft is updating the open source tool with variety of latest features and interface improvements designed specifically for Windows 10.
Microsoft is now reportedly performing on another major update, which can likely offer variety of much-needed improvements to the interface .
On the Github page, Microsoft has uploaded a replacement concept featuring PowerToys with improvements to the first-run experience. Currently, PowerToys opens within the background and makes users interested by what's really happening .
To solve this problem, Microsoft is functioning with independent developers to make a replacement interface, which can display the most module when PowerToys is launched via the system tray.
So far, PowerToys has been placed within the Windows 10 system tray, but support for the system tray is currently also very limited, and only allows users to open the Settings page and stop the appliance process.
When pertaining to the roadmap, PowerToys within the near future will get a replacement flyout menu within the system tray that permits users to quickly open the subsequent modules:
- Settings or Settings
- PowerToys Run (faster Windows Search experience)
- PowerToys Color Picker
- Video conference button
In PowerToys, Microsoft also plans to feature support for variety of features missing in Windows 10, like 'Paste as Plain Text' and a fast thanks to kill background processes from any application. It also mentions variety of other plans which will enable support for brand spanking new ways to render smoother fonts in Windows 10.
