New Codecs Make Netflix Movie Sound Quality on the Android App Better

Netflix has made improvements to their service for the Android app. This increase will reduce buffering and make the sound quality of the film being played clearer and more detailed, especially for sound within the background. Netflix adopted the xHE-ACC codec during this reference to leave improved sound quality and buffering.

In a blog post, Netflix says that using the xHE-ACC codec are going to be ready to provide improved sound quality in noisy environments, adapt to variable cellular connections, and scale to studio-like sound quality. the utilization of this new codec was announced by Netflix earlier this month, and is out there on devices with Android version 9 and above.

The xHE-ACC codec itself uses metadata technology to unravel variety of various audio problems experienced by users when watching Netflix shows on smartphone devices. Netflix explains that the matter occurs when the background sound becomes too loud, in order that the most sound isn't heard. this is often exacerbated by the inferiority of the smartphone speakers, and that they sound cracked once they are too loud.

In addition, the dialogue sound is spoken within the film whose volume changes, sometimes requiring the user to manually turn the quantity up and down. And in fact this makes the experience of watching movies uncomfortable.

Netflix says that the xHE-ACC codec offers better Dynamic Range Control. it's a technology that's ready to reduce the difference between loud and weak parts of a video. The silent sound are going to be made louder, therefore the user can hear it better, amidst the ground noise .

Then, dialogue sound that's too loud, are going to be lowered to stop 'Clipping', without sacrificing audio quality. Netflix also said that the quantity of dialogue are going to be more consistent in each scene.

The codec also supports smooth bitrate switching, which suggests that shows will sound and appearance even better in areas with unstable internet speeds. Netflix also implemented a bitrate function that would adapt automatically in 2019.
